MAKEUP
With so many options and inspiration out there, it's PERFECTLY NORMAL to feel a bit lost when it comes to choosing your hair and makeup styles for an upcoming event. What is certain is that you want to LOOK AND FEEL YOUR BEST! When narrowing down your options and what suits YOU, there are a few things TO CONSIDER.
A good STARTING POINT would be to search for inspiration photos of people with SIMILAR FEATURES as you.
Keep in mind your LIKES and DISLIKES in your usual makeup routine.
Consider what you will be wearing, accessories and the venue. Stay COHESIVE with the overall aesthetic.
Remember, the photos you see on SOCIAL MEDIA and Pinterest are FILTERED and RETOUCHED! Everyone has skin texture, pores and little imperfections. So DON'T BE FOOLED by the beautified online images and the UNREALISTIC EXPECTATIONS they create.
Makeup is NOT A MAGIC TRICK! Everyone's face is different, from their shape, skin type and texture. Certain tips and tricks can be used to enhance or conceal but there are also LIMITS.
If you have oily skin or if you sweat easily, a MATTE FINISH would be the best choice. Also, consider having your makeup artist come back for a TOUCH UP. This is highly advised for summer months and outdoor events.
Lastly, consider having STRONGER MAKEUP than your usual everyday look. That way it will LAST LONGER. In photos the look will be toned down by the camera lens and come across more natural.

HAIR
Let's start with the BASICS and go from there. Are you generally more comfortable with your HAIR DOWN OR UP and away from face? This is a personal choice but hot weather can be a persuasive push towards an updo or a half up half down look.
How do you want to FRAME YOUR FACE? Your hairstyle will mostly be seen from the front and profiles. Think about if you prefer to have a more clean, all of the hair off your face look, or if you feel more comfortable having some sections of hair for softness around the face.
Do you like VOLUME? If so, would you prefer to have volume at the top of the head or do you like volume and softness more in front and surrounding the face?
Where is your preferred HAIR PARTING? Do you want a sleek middle part, a side part or no part with hair directed straight back. Tightly or softly?
These are important questions to ask yourself already BEFORE your trial. Inspiration photos are great but you must preview the style ON YOURSELF beforehand, how would the desired look actually look on YOU AND YOUR HAIR Try wearing your hair similarly for a night out, just to see if this is really is the right look for you. NO SURPRISES on the day of! Feeling mentally settled into your choice is massively important when it comes to FEELING CONFIDENT on the big day.
I cannot tell you how many times both myself and clients have seen a picture of a hairstyle that in the end looks completely different when tried out. Hair length, texture, density and condition and your facial features all play a part in how a hairstyle will turn out. This is why TRIALS ARE IMPERATIVE. So just keep in mind that photos are for INSPIRATION but the OVELALL GOAL is for you to LOOK AND FEEL YOUR ABSOLUTE BEST with your chosen look and the end result.
